In this era of cellphones, laptops and chargers, a hotel room should have more and better quality options. Other than in the bathroom, I found no other accessible outlets. Finally, there are two outlets and two USB ports on the arm of the couch, but they did not work. When I woke-up, my cell phone had come unplugged and had not charged overnight. However, they are poorly contructed so a normal plug falls out if bumped. Next to the bed, there was one outlet on the lamps on each bedstand. You have to crawl under the desk to find an outlet there (and there is only one because something is in the other). My only complaint is the room's electrical capacity. I am not complaining - renovations are good. The coffee shop was closed for renovations. Our room had a nice view (although the windows are a bit small). A decent bathroom (although the shower is a bit narrow). Instead, it was overpriced and underwhelming.… This hotel has so much potential to be an awesome experience. I asked for them to turn them on, the clerk said that the were broken and couldn’t turn them on. On the second morning of our stay, I thought it might be nice to have a cup of coffee next to the rive on the patio with their fireplace as it was still a little chilly. Then, our two rooms were at completely opposite ends of the hall. We arrived at 6:45 pm and had to wait to make sure our room was clean. In fact, I confirmed that they had a pool and whirlpool. I called the day before our arrival to confirm that we would have rooms next to each other. However, it was very small on the confirmation along with the COVID-19 info (that they didn’t follow.) The night and morning clerk all recite the same thing. They had the line down that it was on the website. The clerks had obviously heard the disappointment before. We paid a premium price for a subpar experience. We get to the hotel and the pool and spa were closed. I thought I had the perfect hotel booked on the river with great views, a pool and whirlpool. I feel like I let my family down by booking this hotel. We would stay here again if in La Crosse.… I suspect is probably not an issue during peak season & weekends. Their menu was quite limited and on the "light" side while the prices were relatively reasonable for a "captive" eatery and we were able to get what we needed. It offers tables with waterview as well as some interesting comfy looking "privacy" booths. The only downside we encountered is that there was no place within several blocks to get dinner or breakfast aside from the hotel "Bistro" on the 1st floor. Our room and beds were comfortable & quiet, likewise the pool and fitness room. Saw several chubby woodchucks along the way! The hotel remo was very classy, everything exceptionally clean, classy, and new staff very friendly. The approximately half riverwalk & garden area north of the hotel was interesting & well worth 30-40 minutes of time. The area appears to be the cultural center and felt very empty with most dining places closed Mon & Tues (not a bad thing, just a bit eerie). We stayed here one Monday night in late April, basically passing passing through.
